This week, Dr Phil gave absurd, ill-informed, grossly oversimplified advice to a woman who was a caretaker for her boyfriend.

To take from @sitting_pretty EVERY SINGLE LASTING RELATIONSHIP INVOLVES CARETAKING. I would like the whole world — including Dr Phil — to please stop assuming that being disabled is some kind of alien experience planets away from the rest of humanity. You need some version of care, I need another, and we’re all here just trying our best to sort it out and find connection and love the best we can. 
@theweslawson and I have been together almost 4 years and while he would be seen as the “caregiver” we take care of each other the best we both can. I help him get ready for work or remind him to do things or just be there for him on the bad days! Isn’t that what we all do? Our relationship is built on a lot of laughter, love, respect, and food none of that has to do with my disability but it’s also nice to have someone in my corner to remind me to be cerebral balsy!!
